We first met Heather & Jim at Ocean Beach when we photographed their engagement session. We knew immediately that we were a great match and looked forward to photographing the couple’s winter wedding.

Heather & Jim married on December 15th in a beautiful intimate ceremony in La Jolla, California at a private estate. The two met at the University of Michigan in a bioengineering class and hit it off immediately. Since then they’ve been as inseparable (as they could be). But due to Heather’s career and Jim’s military service the couple often had to make a long distance relationship work.

Once in California together Jim proposed on a hike in La Jolla. The spot he proposed was actually right down the road from the La Jolla private estate where the couple married. The wedding theme set by Heather & Jim’s was adventure and travel as the two wanderlust’s have traveled much of the United States together. After the wedding the newlyweds will be honeymooning in Bali (adding international travel to their list of adventures together) before their big move to Japan. We loved how they wrote their vows in passport books to drive the wedding theme home.

The wedding day started at the expansive private estate in La Jolla where Heather, Jim and the bridal party were getting ready for the intimate wedding. After getting dolled up by mobile beauty team, San Diego we captured some amazing bridal portraits of Heather in her Pronovias gown, from Bridal & Veil in San Diego (drool worthy!) Then it was time for the bride to walk down the aisle with her father.

The couple opted for an intimate wedding with only immediate family and the bridal party in attendance. We loved how each member of the bridal party played a role placing a symbolic prop in a mason jar as the meaning behind that prop was read aloud. Following the ceremony Ryan and I whisked the newlyweds away to photograph some wedding portraits around the La Jolla private estate. Then it was off to the wedding reception. The couple had a rooftop reception in downtown San Diego with great food (Hello, cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes, delish!) and company. The great thing about such an intimate wedding is the night is filled laughing and talking with your closest friends and family. Everyone gathered in conversation around the fire pits and laughed and drank the beautiful day away.

To our beautiful couple Heather & Jim we are so thankful to have been your photographers, it was an absolute honor to photograph your wedding day. We wish you all of the happiness and adventure in the world!
