When you know, you KNOW. Wendy & Kasey moved in together two months after swiping right on Tinder and Saturday they said “Hell yes!” to a lifetime of fur babies and the beach. Despite Wendy’s hopes for rain on her wedding day the skies at Ethereal Open Air Resort At California Botanical Gardens cleared up by the time her and her girl gang had arrived. The skies remained Toy Story-esque (please tell us if you see it too) until dusk set in. The girls painted on crimson lips and pinned up coils while the guys laced their chucks and fastened their suspenders.
The bridesmaids wore 50’s inspired tea length dresses in emerald green accented by pearls hanging around their necks. Wendy stole the show in her black lace wedding dress with an open back. Her pink her was striking against the black gown, she was a moody, 50’s dream. Wendy & Kasey said their vows in front of the crackling fireplace at Ethereal Open Air Resort, the first time we’ve seen a wedding ceremony held in the ethereal open air pavillion. All in all Wendy and Kasey wanted to get to the fun stuff and said “I do” in a short but sweet ceremony in all of maybe ten minutes or so.
Afterwards we took the newlyweds and their entourage out to the meadow for some portraits. Candy cigarettes and drinks in hand we had a blast with this bunch. After releasing the bridal party to cocktail hour we roamed the grounds at California Botanical Gardens with the couple and had a little fun while talking introvert life.
Wendy slipped into a leather moto jacket before the grand entrance for the wedding reception. The couple sipped on mudslides and cotton candy cocktails while munching on popcorn in the moody romantic ambience. Guests conversed and laughed into the night as the black tapered candles burned down into nothing. We drove away with views of crescent moon in our rear view, the perfect night cap to this moody 50’s inspired wedding.
Here’s what Wendy and Kasey had to say after they received their wedding gallery:
“Ryan and Emily were hands down the best photography duo we could have ever hoped to find. Neither my husband or I are particularly comfortable in front of a camera but they know exactly what to say to put you at ease and capture your personality in the perfect shots. They pay attention to every detail of the day and somehow pick up on your quirks and feel like friends by the end of the night. They never made us feel rushed and were constantly throwing out ideas for different cool shots to try (at one point Ryan even laid down on the wet grass to get the perfect angle). Ryan and Emily have such a great dynamic and work so well together and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience – can’t recommend them enough!”
