Just listing those few stats actually has us a bit overwhelmed. 2018 has been such a rewarding year for our wedding photography business, in fact, our best year yet. At the beginning of the year we were both working but dreaming about our little business. As of this Fall we both went full time with Emry Photography and we haven’t looked back since. In July we did our very first destination wedding in the north suburbs outside of Chicago. It was really fun and creatively inspiring to be in entirely different surroundings. Deep wooded areas, lakes, streams and ponds, it was just beautiful. We brought on some amazing photographers we have had the pleasure of knowing this year and they have seamlessly fit into our little Emry Photography family. We also participated in three styled shoots this year, which was a first for us but it was so fun to have the freedom to create with some amazing people. Those stylized wedding shoots took place at some amazing venues that you need to check out, Forever and Always Farm, Wolf Feather Honey Farm and Champagne Event Co.. That last one just totally killed the farm vibe we had going but it was so beautiful!

Speaking of amazing people we definitely have a few honorable mentions to throw out there as we have been so embraced this year by some amazing company. Firstly, all of our amazing couples (obvi) this years couples as well as our past couples who sing our praises, telling friends, family and anyone that will take the time to listen that what we offer is something worth having. There aren’t words momentous enough to give you all the thanks you deserve, but we are eternally grateful for every wedding and engagement we have ever had the opportunity of photographing. We were able to build so many enriching relationships this year, all born out of being in the wedding industry together but some that have surpassed business acquaintances and have stepped into friendships. We made it onto some awesome preferred vendor lists at wedding venues we love like The Grand Tradition Estate, Ethereal Resort at California Botanical Gardens, Twin Oaks Gardens, Green Gables, & Forever and Always Farm. We have built up relationships with some amazing wedding planners like Sisti & Co., Together For Better Events, Annemarie of Annemarie Donaker Weddings & Events, The Social Flower CA, and Sheila Foster of Wedding Planner San Diego.

The year began with our most published wedding ever! I think Briana & Eric’s wedding was published a whopping 8 times? It was crazy but so deserving this Temecula wedding was beyond special and brought people who speak entirely different languages together with the universal language of love.

Things ramped up in the spring for weddings in San Diego, it’s perfect because it’s not too hot out yet. But for Vineyard weddings in Temecula you have to wait until the summer if you want the vines to be in bloom. We were all over Temecula this summer photographing weddings at the wineries, private estate weddings and farm weddings. We had a blast with all of our couple’s creativity this year. So many of our couples really personalized their wedding day which is the huge trend going into 2019 wedding season as well. Make it yours! Whether thats an elopement on a mountaintop or the beach, a church wedding or an outdoor soiree. The day doesn’t have to be a crazy production it just needs to represent you and your love! We had a few weddings at Forever and Always Farm in Murrieta that really stand out. From our couples incorporating wedding Alpaca’s into their wedding day to bringing their motorcycles for their wedding grand exit it was a year of memorable, off the cuff wedding ideas. We even had couples in adorable matching Me. Undies this year.

I wish I could tell you how we ended the year but our last wedding is on December 29th, and I’m not sure I could have written this entirely too long blog post recapping our year in the two days left of December. It wouldn’t be an end of the year blog post of all of the weddings we photographed without some bloopers. So I’ll be dropping all of the behind the scenes action that the Emry Photography team experienced at our weddings this year. Cheers to all of you that made it to the end of this blog post. Wishing everyone the Merriest Christmas and if I don’t pop in here to blog before the new year a very Happy New Year to you all!!

-All our best
